Help ! What am I doing wrong?

Hi, Have downloaded the free edition to test it out.
Have uploaded the unzipped files and changed permissions etc as per the included help file.
I then goto my website where it has been uploaded, www.wasteland.com
and I get these error messages..

Server error
The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.wastingland.com/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

I have used Firefox and Chrome.
Chrome gives the above error messages.
Firefox just a blank screen...

Any ideas ?

Hello,

Are you on a Windows or Linux based server? Also, in the root directory of DFH, do you have a file called .htaccess (not .htaccess.rar)?

Hi, site is on linux, no, can't see a file ".htaccess" in the root directory only the .htacess.rar is there.
